Foundation Stage
Most children begin their school life here at Ridgeway at the age of 4. One of our principal aims at this stage is to help the children make that important transition from home to school as smoothly as possible. We aim to help and encourage the children to settle into school life, to feel secure and confident. The Foundation Stage classroom provides an environment that links the play based pre-school education to a more formal education that they will receive in Year One. Learning through play is a key element of their curriculum.
The curriculum for the Reception year is known as the Foundation Stage. It includes 3 core areas of Communication and Language, Physical Development and Personal, Social, and Emotional Development and 4 specific areas of learning in Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding of the World and Expressive Arts and Design.
