As a quick introduction, Mrs Applebee has very kindly agreed to tell us a bit more about herself...

What are you most excited about for the year(s) ahead at school? - Getting to know all the children and parents at Ridgeway and making some exciting changes.

What is your career background? - I have been a class teacher, phase leader, deputy head teacher, SENCO, head of school and headteacher across my teacher career so far. I’ve worked in Nottinghamshire, Leicester City and Leicestershire in a range of schools

If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be? - I ‘never give up’!

What’s your favourite snack? - Crisps – my favourite are salt and vinegar but I like them all apart from Skips which I don’t consider to be a real crisp!

Best present you ever received? - A multipack of crisps as a thank you present at the end of the year.

What do you do to unwind/hobby? - I like to read, walk and swim – not all at the same time!

What’s your favourite film/book/TV series? - I like anything that has a good story but I my favourites are crime dramas.

Why did you choose teaching as your profession? - My mum and dad are both teachers, so I saw the job a lot growing up, but I like how practical it is. I also considered being a midwife or a social worker.
