Congratulations to our Rotary Young Scientists of The Year!

WINNING THE SCIENCE COMPETITION

BY MIA FANNON AND FINLAY GRAINGE J

On Wednesday 2nd May, we won the science competition at Kibworth CE primary school. There were seven challenges; all tasks were to be completed in ten minuted. Our school: Ridgeway Primary Academy were one of the eight schools that took part in this event.

Our team of four used teamwork which was a very important part of this event , as was using our science knowledge to solve each puzzle and question. The hardest challenge was creating a circuit with a battery pack, three light bulbs, one switch and twelve connecting wires. The aim of the task was to make two bulbs turn on and one turn off at the same time using only one switch.

The presentation before the countdown to the reveal of the winners was tense. As we all waited for the top three to be announced, we were on the edge of our chairs. When we were announced winners we were absolutely thrilled to find out we would receive certificates and get our school name engraved on a metal shield after all our hard work.
