What is FORA?

The Friends of Ridgeway Academy is the Parent/Teacher Association (PTA) at Ridgeway Primary School.  Its purpose is to advance the education of pupils in the school in particular by:

  1. developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school;

  2. engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils.

FORA is a voluntary organisation that offers parents and carers opportunities to become involved and to contribute to the enrichment of the school experience for their children. One of the primary functions of the PTA is to provide the children with resources and opportunities above and beyond the statutory provision funded by the local authority.

    Who are the PTA?

You are! Every parent is automatically a member of the PTA.  It is run by a committee elected at the AGM usually held in late September.

    Key Committee Members 2015 – 2016

Joint Chairs: Chela Grainge & Jo Regan-Iles

    Treasurer: Sara Timson

    Secretary: Rachel Stewart

    Teacher Rep: Mr Turner

So, how can you help?

You can support FORA in many ways:

  • Come to events such as Bingo, Quiz Night, Christmas & Summer Fairs

  • Donate raffle/tombola prizes, cakes, school uniform for our pre-loved sales

  • Buy Christmas Cards and DVDs of the Christmas show

  • Join the Committee – bring your ideas or expertise

Help is appreciated in many different ways. We have a wonderful team of regular helpers who organise and run events but new offers of help are always welcomed, so please feel free to volunteer. You can contact any PTA member or you can also get in touch via the school office.

Fundraising Achievements

Since 2010 FORA has raised over £54,000 and it has spent almost the same amount over this period.  There are not large amounts in the bank; each year the income and expenditure almost balances.  So your children benefit directly from our current fundraising activities.

So far in 2015/16 we have raised just over £6,000!

 - Thank you for your continued support

What have the funds been used for?

Each year FORA supports a mixture of regular activity and some special projects.
